Interview with snartdeco

Kat (she/her) is an asexual lesbian cake artist. I asked her about herself and her content, as well as content she’s been enjoying recently. You can check out Kat at the links at the end of the interview.

1. What queer terminology do you use for yourself publicly, offline and / or online? Do not feel pressured to come out as anything in your answer. Please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
   • Asexual and lesbian. I think I got demisexual best but irl I get enough confusion from just the asexual part so I pretty much leave it at that.
2. What non-queer demographic terminology do you use for yourself? (nationality, wealth, ethnicity, race, disability / ability, neurotype, age, education, occupation, for example). Again, please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
   • I’m white, fat, poor.
   • i have ADHD(poss autism too).
   • I’m 30 and I live in Texas!
   • I have PCOS.
3. What content do you produce?
   • I make cakes and cake videos!
4. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not creating content?
   • I love playing videogames,
   • talking about animals,
   • watching cartoons, and
   • hanging out with my wife!
5. What does the queer community needs to do better about understanding, accepting, and supporting?
   • I guess assumptions. Seen a lot of people assume someone isn’t queer from a glance when they could be trans or bi or w/e.
   • Obviously I’ve taken some heat from people for being asexual.
   • I’ve also had to deal with assumptions about my lesbianism bc my wife is trans.
6. What are you excited about going forward? Can be anything from creative projects, personal or professional milestones, etc.
   • I’m just excited to keep getting better and doing cooler things. I’ve won 2 food network shows and i hope they call us for another one!!
7. Are there any pets or plants in your life?
   • Yes I have 4 cats,
   • 4 snakes,
   • a cockatiel,
   • a leopard gecko.
   • We also have so many plants:
     • we have pothos,
     • fiddlefig tree,
     • an avocado tree that is 5 years old,
     • aloe,
     • diffenbachia,
     • succulents,
     • some palm tree type plant, and
     • a spider plant.
8. What content creators have you been enjoying recently?
   • I love littletunny! Gosh, I love so many artists actually. Pseudenism Jones.
9. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
   • My individuality.
   • I am proud of myself for how hard I have worked to do my art.
   • I also strive to be understanding, to listen and learn. It has served me well.
   • I also love my hair!
