Interview with Tobias Jam

Tobias Jam (he/xye) is a queer illustrator. I asked him about xymself and his content, as well as content xye’s has been enjoying recently. You can check out Tobias Jam at the links at the end of the interview.

1. What queer terminology do you use for yourself publicly? Do not feel pressured to come out as anything in your answer. Please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
   • I am a gay agender trans man! My pronouns are He/him and Xye/Xym (Pronounced Zee and Zim).
2. What non-queer demographic terminology do you use for yourself? Again, please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
   • I’m jewish and also the host of my system. Together we are a osdd-1b system of 20. I am also disabled!
3. What projects are you involved in? This can be any type of content you’d like to promote.
   • Currently I am developing a couple of different stories with my fiance and friends. Mostly focusing on interpersonal stories of the undead kind. The Biggest one I’m Developing is called Broken Grounds! Which I honestly post a lot.
   • I also do streams of my art and of video games my fiance wants to show me over on twitch.
4. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not creating content?
   • I’m actually in the works of getting together a community garden with my fiance.
   • I also do a lot of baking and cooking when I’m not knee deep in a new project!
5. What does the queer community needs to do better about understanding, accepting, and supporting?
   • There genuinely needs to be more support and understanding of Queer people of color. The world is full of amazing artists, writers and musicians who build this community and we need to do better to uplift and help those in need.
6. What are you excited about going forward? Can be anything from creative projects, personal or professional milestones, etc.
   • I want to continue to hone my art and create worlds people are interested in!
   • I also want to continue and grow my twitch channel and get more commissions under my belt. Be on the look out for a little Analog style horror story.
7. Are there any pets or plants in your life?
   • No pets but we do have a franken plant we are trying to grow for a community garden and a mushroom kit one of my alters has been trying to grow. I think he named that one Ambrose haha!
8. What content / content creators have you been enjoying recently? This could be anything from books, to podcasts, to tutorial videos, etc. Anything you want other people to know about.
   1. On Twitter I have been enjoying:
      1. the work of @not_floral who has been nothing but a huge inspiration with her art and game she is making called Moacir.
      2. @cuddledot who is also an amazing artist and cartoonist.
   2. Music wise I’ve been listening to a lot of GUNK RIOT on soundcloud super awesome noise artist with an amazing glitch aesthetic.
   3. Also the amazing ARG my friend has been working on gordon-freeman-has-a-home.
9. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
   • I think my constant strive for finding fun in something and coming up with just the goofiest concept I can get my dorky little hands on. There’s something always so fun about making a story with friends you love.
