Interview with ColtHack

Colt (he/him) is a queer gaymer, photographer, and writer. I asked him about himself and his content, as well as content he’s been enjoying recently. You can check out Colt at the links at the end of the interview.

  1. What queer terminology do you use for yourself publicly? Do not feel pressured to come out as anything in your answer. Please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
    • I’m a Pansexual Fluid/Masc, so he/him works best, but I’m also fine with any pronouns.
  2. What non-queer demographic terminology do you use for yourself? Again, please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
    • I’m a disabled veteran, having served in the army between 2014-2018. Other than that, I’m white and non-religious.
  3. What projects are you involved in? This can be any type of content you’d like to promote.
    • I make my own tabletop games and related content, most of which is free. I make content for dungeons and dragons, including new subclasses, spells, abilities, and such.
    • I wrote and released a game last year called “Chambered” where you play as super spies and fight James Bond villains. I did my best to ensure inclusivity, and carefully worded the rules that I wrote so that no one was left out. A second edition is in the works.
    • I separately have a high fantasy swords-and-magic game coming out in the near future. I just like making things that people can have fun with.
  4. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not creating content?
    • I play video games (Usually Apex Legends) to wind down, or watch science YouTube. I often watch videos about maximizing your DND characters as a way to do research into how tabletop mechanics function. Otherwise, I’m chasing my cat around trying to figure out what he’s eating.
  5. What does the queer community needs to do better about understanding, accepting, and supporting?
    • Strangely, context. In my opinion, I’ve seen bizarre in-fighting in the queer community stemming from things that were either misunderstandings or gross misinterpretations. This doesn’t even include the negative discourse around the mere existence of the pansexual label, which I use because it is specific to my identity. I think the amount of openness and sheer size of the queer community online is fantastic, but we should all take care not to lose sight of our solidarity.
  6. What are you excited about going forward? Can be anything from creative projects, personal or professional milestones, etc.
    • I’m excited to finish some of the projects I’m working on and release them! I want to share more of my work, and I have a couple upcoming games that should be fun.
  7. Are there any pets or plants in your life?
    • I have a cute white kitty named MRVN, he was abandoned on a fishing boat as a baby and bottle fed, so he loves humans.
    • I also have a succulent named Henry that we recently found out is SUPPOSED to turn brown in the sunlight, so we’re relieved to know we’re not killing him.
  8. What content / content creators have you been enjoying recently? This could be anything from books, to podcasts, to tutorial videos, etc. Anything you want other people to know about.
    • I have been enjoying maps ‘n quests on Twitter, as well as Erika open_sketchbook for her beautiful games about planes.
    • Additionally, I live with my partner who is a streamer and plays wholesome games on twitch, so I can’t forget spookyelle13.
  9. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
    • That’s a hard one, but I think I have to be proud of my ability to make other people smile. I made goofy videos on TikTok last year, I make games to give others fun times, and I’m hoping that something I create will share smiles after I’m gone.
