Fox (they/xe) is a queer streamer, musician, and fiber crafter. I asked them about xemself and xir content, as well as content they’ve been enjoying recently. You can check out Fox at the links at the end of the interview.
- What queer terminology do you use for yourself publicly? Do not feel pressured to come out as anything in your answer. Please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
- I identify as grey-aroace, nonbinary, and polyamorous. My pronouns are they/them/theirs and xe/xem/xirs.
- What non-queer demographic terminology do you use for yourself? Again, please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
- I’m not sure if this counts, but I usually just say that I’m chronically ill/disabled. I don’t mind sharing, but I don’t often feel it’s entirely necessary to elaborate if that makes sense!
- What projects are you involved in? This can be any type of content you’d like to promote.
- Actively I’m not a part of any projects I suppose? The only thing I can think is that I am a member of Forest Fae, a network/community created and run by disabled content creators. It’s a fantastic network of creators and I’ve met some lovely people through it!
- What do you enjoy doing when you’re not creating content?
- In my free time I’m usually
- gaming (I especially love games like Stardew Valley, DBD, and roguelikes; The Binding of Isaac is my favorite!),
- crocheting,
- going hiking with my partner,
- or listening to/learning classical music (in college I majored in music performance, with a voice concentration!)
- In my free time I’m usually
- What does the queer community needs to do better about understanding, accepting, and supporting?
- I think the biggest thing the queer community needs to do is to stop making assumptions and work on acceptance. So much discourse is created out of misunderstanding and deeply ingrained, internalized homophobia. Rather than reject people that some people believe “don’t belong”; I think we need to do better about listening, educating ourselves, and working to better understand other identities. After all, we all deal with oppression, just different forms that we may not understand (as all of us are different)
- What are you excited about going forward? Can be anything from creative projects, personal or professional milestones, etc.
- I’m incredibly excited to continue growing and fostering a beautiful, accepting community! It’s been one of my favorite things about being a creator.
- Are there any pets or plants in your life?
- My partner and I have a brown tabby cat named Katrina.
- I also keep houseplants; I probably have somewhere between 30 and 40 plants. I actually used to create plant care content before I moved to streaming!
- What content / content creators have you been enjoying recently? This could be anything from books, to podcasts, to tutorial videos, etc. Anything you want other people to know about.
- Some of my recent favorites include
- Miktastic,
- Ellevish,
- Lumienaut,
- Ntheowner,
- Cheeky8,
- evelynmaetrix,
- simplysab,
- MijaaWallace, and
- KamiAnya!
- I could go on and on, there are so many incredible creators on the platform.
- Some of my recent favorites include
- What is your favorite thing about yourself?
- I love my passion and drive to do good and curate spaces where people can be openly, unabashedly themselves. I’ve always been someone who wants nothing more than to help people and bring joy, and I think that’s an admirable trait.
