Interview with Miktastic

Miktastic (they/ze) is a queer pottery and gaming streamer. I asked zir about them and their content, as well as content ze’s been enjoying recently. You can check out Miktastic at the links at the end of the interview.

1. What queer terminology do you use for yourself publicly? Do not feel pressured to come out as anything in your answer. Please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
   • In public I use Ace, Queer, poly am, pan romantic (questioning if I’m demi romantic.) and Agender.
2. What non-queer demographic terminology do you use for yourself? Again, please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
   • I use Black, BIPoC, PoC, marginalized.
3. What projects are you involved in? This can be any type of content you’d like to promote.
   • I am just doing commission work for pottery . Aside from that I am normally involved in charity streaming (St. Jude and Starlight mostly, but I’ve raised money for The Bail Project, Wounded Warriors).
4. What non-creative hobbies do you enjoy?
   • As far as non creative hobbies go, gaming and gardening would fall in that category. Everything else I do for fun is artistic.
5. What does the queer community needs to do better about understanding, accepting, and supporting?
   • The Queer community needs to be better about policing Queer identities within. Aro, Ace, Bi, and Pan identities come to mind.
   • The community also needs to be careful about appropriating Black culture instead of appreciating it.
   • Also PoC members of the community need to be uplifted more, since most of the representation I see is normally White Gay Male, and there’s so much more to us than that.
6. What are you excited about going forward? Can be anything from creative projects, personal or professional milestones, etc.
   • June is over, but I’m hoping to keep the energy going.
     • I’d love to do more projects with Queer Folx.
     • I’d also love to advocate more for my fellow A-spec.
   • I’m also planning on finishing up my commissions.
7. Are there any pets or plants in your life?
   • I have 2 cats (marshmallow and cheddar) and a dog (Gwen). The dog belongs to my QP, but for all intents and purposes the animals belong to us all. I have a 1 and a half year old succulent. I’m also growing cucumbers and tomatoes in my front yard.
8. What content / content creators have you been enjoying recently? This could be anything from books, to podcasts, to tutorial videos, etc. Anything you want other people to know about.
   • I’ve been enjoying a lot of DBD and chill cozy content. Ironic since there’s not much chill about DbD. My favorite Creators currently are:

9. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
   • My favorite thing about myself is my resilience and my ability to love. I’ve bounced back from so many traumatic events in 2019~2021. Young me would’ve become cynical, but I’ve been there and done that. I’m able to keep my optimistic outlook and faith in people despite what happens. Because I know if I’m good, there are others just like me. I’m also just full of love for people and it just makes my world so much brighter.
