Interview with RhiStomps

Solstice (it/she) is a queer art and gaming streamer. It recently helped fundraise for my new streaming computer! I asked it about itself and her content, as well as content she’s been enjoying recently. You can check out Solstice at the links at the end of the interview.

1. What queer terminology do you use for yourself publicly? Do not feel pressured to come out as anything in your answer. Please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
   • I’m a pretty open person and out and about in public I mostly refer to myself as a pan polyam trans woman. Online I refer to myself as panromantic, demisexual non binary trans woman. I’m trying to work up the courage to use my it/it’s pronouns in my day to day offline life… but it’s scary.
2. What non-queer demographic terminology do you use for yourself? Again, please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
   • I’m as white as a ghost.
   • I dunno the biggest most like, overarching label I use outside of my queerness is that I have ADHD. It impacts like, every aspect of my life. And a lot of like, I guess, neurotypical (I think that’s the correct term here) folks don’t realise is that it severely impacts my memory. Iirc it’s classified as a memory problem. And because of circumstances beyond my control I’m unmedicated for it, so I have hundreds of reminders for stuff in my phone, a notebook of checklists, and a notebook of reminders in my purse. It comes with anxiety and rejection sensitive dysphoria. It’s a big deal and a constant struggle for me, it’s not just a list of cute memey quirks , which I feel is overwhelmingly how it’s treated online.
3. What projects are you involved in? This can be any type of content you’d like to promote.
   • Mostly just my personal twitch channel! I also sometimes take emote commissions! Someday I want to try my hand at game dev…
4. What non-creative hobbies do you enjoy?
   • I’m really boring and all I do outside of my creative work is play video games.
5. What does the queer community needs to do better about understanding, accepting, and supporting?
   • We really need to stop all the damn gate keeping. The more we constantly tear each other down the more like that, we’re vulnerable to outside forces tearing us apart. We are stronger together and when we realise that there will be nothing we can’t do as a community.
6. What are you excited about going forward? Can be anything from creative projects, personal or professional milestones, etc.
   • I dunno. I’m mostly just excited to see my partners again in the coming months, quarantine has been ROUGH. I long to have my found family and lovers around me again.
7. Are there any pets or plants in your life?
   • I have a tortoise shell cat named Pixel, she’s a moody baby but I love her so much! I also take care of an aloe plant named Leafy! It’s is a stalwart companion and it’s great at listening to my problems!
8. What content / content creators have you been enjoying recently?
   • All of my friends are streamers so like. I love all of their content. From Gilly, to my bestie HeyJayDragon, dieDoktor. Heck, I even love your work HFE. It’s really hard to fill this one out because I just want to shout out everyone. I can’t always be in live streams but I love going back and watching vods.
9. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
   • I’ve started to love myself a lot. I’ve come along way in my transition. I’m constantly learning new stuff about myself. And I really feel like the older I get, the better I try to become…. That’s probably a cheesy answer haha. It’s hard to write nice stuff about yourself.
