Interview with Evelyn Silver

Evelyn (she/her) is a queer author. I asked her about herself and her content, as well as content she’s been enjoying recently. You can check out Evelyn at the links at the end of the interview.

1. What queer terminology do you use for yourself publicly? Do not feel pressured to come out as anything in your answer. Please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
   • I identify as bisexual and polyamorous. I don’t limit this to only cis men and women, mind you, I see bi as an identity that includes both ends of the gender spectrum and everything in between, but with having some preferences.
2. What non-queer demographic terminology do you use for yourself? Again, please only disclose whatever you’re comfortable with.
   • I’m a cis woman, I’m Pagan with Jewish ancestry, I’m autistic, and I’m a mother. I’m also a writer and soon to be published author, which is very exciting for me!
3. What projects are you involved in? This can be any type of content you’d like to promote.
   • My biggest current project is definitely my book. I just got my cover back, and I’m hoping to hear from my editor and publisher an expected release date soon! It’s the first in a series about very queer vampires and witches and I can’t wait to write more.
4. What non-creative hobbies do you enjoy?
   • There are… non-creative hobbies? I guess video games count, but I haven’t had time to play lately.
5. What does the queer community needs to do better about understanding, accepting, and supporting?
   • The queer community has a problem with gatekeeping. We need to remember that the same acceptance we’d like is the acceptance we should give. There shouldn’t be a “you must be this queer to ride” test in queer spaces – just accept when someone states their identity as part of the queer community and stop trying to kick people out.
6. What are you excited about going forward? Can be anything from creative projects, personal or professional milestones, etc.
   • My art is getting better and better, so I look forward to using that to make Between my book and my new baby, my life is looking pretty great right now and I’ve got so much to be excited about! I’m extremely fortunate and it’s taken a lot of hard work, but I love every minute of it. I’m looking forward to being an active mom and active author (my website is www.eternalevelyn.com).
7. Are there any pets or plants in your life?
   • I sadly end up killing any plants in my care, but I do have two lovely kitties! They’re four-year-old Lilac Point Siamese siblings, Katara and Sokka, that were adopted from the Humane Society together. I’m allergic to cats, but they’re totally worth it.
8. What content / content creators have you been enjoying recently?
   • I honestly haven’t been able to really enjoy a lot of content creators lately with my time constraints, unfortunately. I was recently listening to videos by withcindy on YouTube while I was working! I liked hearing her reaction to Netflix’s Shadow and Bone.
9. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
   • My favorite thing about myself… I like my creativity and drive, and I also am a big fan of my hair. Seriously, my hair is better than everyone else’s hair, lol.
